Welcome to the TCF Canada French exam prep platform (the “Site”, domain chatontcf.com). We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how third parties (including advertising) handle data. By continuing to use the Site, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Query content: text you enter or submit in the word, speaking and resource features, used only to return definitions, audio or scores.
- Speech recordings: when you use the speaking assessment, your browser records your voice and uploads it to our backend for pronunciation assessment. Recordings may be stored temporarily to produce scores and improve quality; we do not use them to identify you or make them public.
- Technical logs: servers and the CDN may record standard access logs (IP, browser type, timestamps) for security and operations.
The Site does not require an account and does not actively collect personal identifiers such as your name or phone number.
2. How we use information
- To provide and improve core features (definitions, speech synthesis, speaking assessment);
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot;
- To show ads that support the site’s operation (see section 4).
3. Third-party services
To deliver features, we send necessary data to the following processors:
- Microsoft Azure (Speech): French speech synthesis and pronunciation assessment;
- AI model providers: generating word definitions and speaking feedback;
- Cloudflare: hosting, content delivery and storage.
These providers process data under their respective privacy policies.
4. Cookies and advertising (Google AdSense)
- The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience and measure traffic.
- We plan to use Google AdSense and other third-party ad services. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as the DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
- You can manage or opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings, or learn more about third-party vendor opt-outs at www.aboutads.info.
5. Data retention and security
We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes above; long-unused caches and recordings are cleared periodically. We use reasonable technical measures to protect data, but no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed fully secure.
6. Children’s privacy
The Site targets adult French learners, is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
